Dual-band Single/Dual-beam Slot Patch Antenna

2018
In this letter, a dual-band dual-beam microstrip antenna is investigated. The proposed antenna consists of a rectangular ground plane, a V-shape feed probe and a double slots radiating patch. By adjusting the size of them, a dual-band antenna can be obtained. In the low frequency band, the antenna can radiate one radiation beam. In the high frequency band, the antenna can achieve two symmetrical radiation beams. An antenna prototype is fabricated and measured for validation. Good agreement between the simulated and measured results is observed. The antenna operating frequency ranges are 3.6 ~ 3.9 GHz in the low frequency band and 4.8 ~ 5.3 GHz in the high frequency band with VSWR less than 2. At 3.8 GHz, the antenna radiate one beam with 7.9 dBi realized gain. At 5.0 GHz, it exhibits two radiation beams directed at -40°and 40°with 5.8 dBi and 5.7 dBi realized gain.
