Optimum design of coupling inductors for magnetic integration in three-phase interleaving Buck DC/DC converter

2013
Coupling inductors for magnetic integration used in 3-phase interleaving Buck DC/DC converter are studied in detail and the equivalent steady state inductance and transient inductance are calculated thoroughly. In order to improve the steady state and transient performance of the converters, reverse coupling is used to obtain larger equivalent steady state inductance and smaller equivalent transient inductance than those of the non-coupling inductors. Rationally designing the layout of inductors and their parameters, the steady state peak current and the power loss can be reduced greatly, and the efficiency of the converters can be improved as well. Finally, the design principle that coupling coefficient of the inductors should be in effective range is put forward for the magnetic integration of converters. The correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified by experimental and simulation results.
