Fabrication ofMulticore Tellurite Glass Optical Fibres

Twotellurite glass compositions intheTeO2-ZNO-NaO system weresynthesised andtheir suitability asafibre core/clad material pair wasinvestigated through theanalysis oftheir thermal andrheological properties andtheir refractive indices. Thefibre preform wasmanufactured byextrusion technique whichallowed ustoproduce atriple coreoptical fibre structure, having acontrolled inter coredistance andcircular coreprofiles. Optical assessment ofthefibre around standard telecom wavelength showedthatthe3 corespossess similar transmission properties with anattenuation of6.8dB/m.
