Materials and corrosion technology for deep-water oil and gas production

1998
This article discusses the changes and developments in corrosion and materials technology needed for deep-water operations. These include the use of alternative alloys to resist corrosion in production environments; higher strength materials for structures, tubulars, and flowlines; weight-saving materials and composites; flexible materials for flowlines and risers; and cathodic protection system design.
