Molybdenum Bolsters the Bioinorganic Brigade

1996
The crystal structure of the simplest known molybdenum-requiring enzyme, the dimethyl sulfoxide reductase of Rhodobacter sphaeroides , is reported on in this issue of Science by Schindelin et al . ([p. 1615][1]). In his Perspective, Stiefel discusses the chemistry performed by this enzyme and how it contributes to “the smell of the sea.” [1]: /lookup/doi/10.1126/science.272.5268.1615
