The American Physical Science Study Committee Course

1962
The council of the Organization for European Economic Co-operation established several years ago a program of action to deal with the serious shortages of scientific and technical personnel in O.E.E.C. countries, and this was considered to require vigorous action in the field of school science. Under their auspices, an international conference on physics education meeting in Paris in 1960 outlined the fundamental principles for the modernization of physics teaching in secondary schools. Further, it was decided to encourage pilot schemes at national level to assess the practical implications of a new approach to the teaching of physics.
