Políticas públicas de cuidados de larga duración: residencias para mayores, calidad del servicio y atención de calidad

This article presents a review of the impact that population ageing will have on the increase in demand for long-term care, particularly nursing home care. These forecasts and the current situation of nursing homes, especially after the serious situation caused by the pandemic, make it necessary to review some essential concepts such as quality management, quality of care, the person-centered care model or best practices. Special consideration should be given to the training and conditions of professionals in the sector. All these aspects should be taken into account in the development of public policies aimed at changing the nursing home model in Spain.
