Expression of immediate early gene Arc/Arg3. 1 and its relationship with Alzheimer's disease:an update

2018
Arc/Arg3.1 gene is a member of the immediate early genes family ,working as a transcription factor.Arc/Arg3.1plays an important role in synaptic plasticity .Once Arc/Arg3.1 protein expression is hindered ,it will damage the LTP and thereby interfere with the long-term memory consolidation .AD patients express anomalously high levels of Arc/Arg3.1 protein . Arc/Arg3.1 expression itself is disrupted in the vicinity of Aβoligomers and plaques .Such alterations result in the interruption of neuronal network integration in vivo .It is not clear what the impacts of these alterations are on the functional neurophysiology of AD-associated amyloidopathy .This brief review will emphasize the rising role of Arc/Arg3.1 and its involvement in neurophysio-logical alterations of current AD models .
