Recent progress of intravenous lidocaine for treatment of postherpetic neuralgia

Lidocaine is not only used in local anaesthesia and antiarrhythmia, but also plays an analgesic role on regulating the discharge of ectopic neurons and reducing hyperalgesia and inflammation. It has been proved that lidocaine has certain therapeutic effect on postherpetic neuralgia and is one of effective drug for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia.
