The invention relates to an engineering thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer and a preparation method thereof. The engineering thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer is prepared from, by weight, 20-40 parts of micromolecular dihydric alcohol, 60-80 parts of diisocyanate, 0.1-2 parts of an antioxidant, 0.1-2 parts of a light stabilizer and 0.1-2 parts of a lubricating agent. The preparation method includes: adding the antioxidant, the light stabilizer and the lubricating agent into the micromolecular dihydric alcohol, and well stirring; measuring the micromolecular dihydric alcohol and diisocyanate, and then adding into a double-screw extruder; adopting a one-step double-screw reactive extrusion process, performing brace pelletizing or underwater pelletizing after discharging from a die head, and drying in a dehumidifying and drying hopper to obtain engineering thermoplastic polyurethane particles. Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers prepared according to the method have the advantages of high hardness, high light transmittance, high bending strength, high toughness and high heat resistance.
