Nanoscale Carbide and Nitride Catalysts

2013
Early transition metal carbides and nitrides are an intriguing class of materials that hold promise for use in a number of catalytic and electrocatalytic reactions. Advances in the areas of synthesis, and catalytic and electrocatalytic performance during the last 10–15 years have been impressive and are reviewed in this chapter. Despite these advances, there are no significant commercial applications for carbide- and nitride-based catalysts. This review concludes with a perspective regarding issues that might facilitate their commercial application.
