second harmonic generation in optically poled tellurite glasses doped with heavy metal oxides

2004
Abstract Second harmonic generation has been investigated in TeO 2 -based glasses doped with heavy metal oxides. This second order non-linearity has been successfully generated using an all-optical poling process at 1064 nm and 532 nm. We have shown the influence of the poling time, beam polarization and energy, as well as the oxide composition on the induced second order non-linearity. A direct relationship has been demonstrated between the second and third order non-linearities of glasses within the TeO 2 –Tl 2 O system.
