Efficacy and Its Evaluation of Non-bioartificial Liver

2021
In clinical practice, comprehensive treatment of internal medicine is often ineffective with high mortality rate, however, non-bioartificial liver can significantly improve the treatment efficacy of patients with liver failure. In this chapter, the criteria and indicators for efficacy of non-bioartificial liver are introduced to assess the short- and long-term efficacy in non-bioartificial liver treatment. Then, the efficacy of non-bioartificial liver, including short- and long-term efficacy, is presented. Finally, the concept and application of MELD are discussed in liver failure treatment via non-bioartificial liver, including (1) the history, advantage and application of MELD, (2) MELD in prognostic criteria for end-stage liver disease, and (3) MELD in efficacy prediction for liver failure treatment using non-bioartificial liver.
