The invention relates to a high-power LED streetlamp cooling method and an LED streetlamp cooled by the same. By the aid of chimney effect and a ventilation and heat radiation cooling way, natural air is introduced into the back of an LED chip component in a lampshell, and junction temperature of an LED chip is lowered. A chimney is a vertically arranged air duct composed of a hollow lamp pole, a guide pipe and a lampshell, an air inlet is arranged on the lower portion of the hollow lamp pole, the upper portion of the hollow lamp pole is provided with a through hole, the hollow lamp pole is communicated with the guide pipe, the guide pipe is communicated into the back of the LED chip component in the lampshell, and an air outlet is arranged on the lampshell. The air enters from the air inlet, upflows in the lamp pole to the guide pipe, then is blown to the back of the LED chip component in the lampshell to bring away heat and is discharged from the air outlet, so the the chimney effect is formed, and junction temperature of the LED chip can be lowered. The high-power LED streetlamp cooling method is green, low-carbon, environment-friendly, low in cost, effective and reliable.
