A system (310) providing a medical decision support for the diagnosis and treatment of a disease, comprising a medical knowledge database containing medical information, wherein the medical information includes probabilities for disease consequences for a disease that is of interest, a storage device (303) for storing a program (307), a processor (309) in commmunication standing with the storage device (303), wherein the processor (309) with the program (307) operates and to obtain patient information in vitro test results for a patient and to to automatically generate a proposal for a medical test, based on a combination of patient information, the in vitro test results and medical information from the medical knowledge base.
