A cyclopalladated phosphine selenide with an anionic acylselenourea ligand

Abstract The chloro-bridged cyclometallated palladium(II) complex [PdCl{κ C , Se -C 6 H 4 P(Se)Ph 2 }] 2 reacts with 4-MeC 6 H 4 C(O)NHC(Se)NEt 2 in the presence of base to give [Pd{κ C , Se -C 6 H 4 P(Se)Ph 2 }{κ O , Se -4-MeC 6 H 4 C(O)NC(Se)NEt 2 }] in high yield. The complex was fully characterised by spectroscopic methods and also X-ray diffraction. This compound represents one of the few examples of a metal complex containing two different selenium-containing ligands.
