Computer aided design and manufacturing of coping crown on maxillary incisor

2006
Objective To study and discuss the computer aided design and manufacturing(CAD/CAM) of coping crown on maxillary incisor. Methods Taking the right maxillary incisor for example, firstly,ATOS II 3D scanner was used to measure the 3D data of the abutment tooth which was used to design the coping crowns.Secondly, the collected trigonal faces were optimized based on their figures. The preparation line was automatically painted, and the surface was rebuilt by the software. Finally, the non collar coping crown and the half collar coping crown were designed based on the surface. The finished model was manufactured by 3-axis NC milling machine.Result The coping crowns fitted the abutment tooth very well, and the precision of the whole models were reasonably meeting the clinical demand. Conclusion The method is efficient, which provides basis for dental CAD/CAM system. It could be used in clinical application.
