BRAZING OF TITANIUM USING LOW-MELTING-POINT TI-BASED FILLER METALS

1990
The microstructure and mechanical properties of commercially pure titanium (CPTi) and Ti-6Al-4V alloy joints brazed with newly developed Ti-based amorphous filler metals were investigated by microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, tensile test, fatigue test and salt immersion test. Among the developed filler metals, three kinds of Ti-37.5 Zr-15 Cu-10 Ni, Ti-35 Zr-15 Cu-15 Ni and Ti-25 Zr-50 Cu alloys were used in this study, whose melting points were approximately 100 o C (180 o F) lower than those of conventional Ti-based filler metals
