An ultra-violet microspectrophotometer for measurements with polarized light

1969
An ultra-violet microspectrophotometer is described which permits the measurement of absorption spectra of objects of approximately 1 ?m diameter, in the wavelength range of 240 to 360 nm. The equipment is particularly suitable for investigating biological cells and their component parts. It is possible to carry out measurements with polarized light. The apparatus is designed as a double beam recording system with automatic balancing. The equipment is designed to allow photography with ultra-violet light and the use of an ultra-violet image converter. Dichroism measurements can be carried out also on small object diameters with the aid of a compensator.
