The relationship between inflation and unemployment in Colombia during the period 2001 and 2017

2020
This research explains the relation between inflation and unemployment in Colombia in the period 2001-2017 and thus demonstrates compliance, where appropriate, with Phillips' theory. The research is framed within a descriptive quantitative approach, using descriptive and correlational analysis for the analysis. Throughout the period, the behavior of the variables inflation and unemployment for the Colombian case shows that there is a strong negative relationship in the periods 2001-2017, however in the last years under study 2013-2017 there is no significant relationship. Therefore, the theory of the Phillips curve is not fulfilled in the Colombian case in the last periods under study.
