Eeukaryotic initiation factor 3d expression is a prognostic factor of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

2016
Objective To explore the correlation of eukaryotic initiation factor 3d (eIF3d) expression with prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods The expressions of eIF3d in tissues with hepatocellular carcinoma and adjacent non-cancerous tissues of 200 hepatectomy specimens were studied by immunohistochemistry. The clinicopathological results, including survival, were analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of eIF3d was significantly higher in adjacent non-cancerous tissues tissues than in hepatocellular carcinoma. eIF3d levels were correlated with more advanced TNM tumor stages and cancer recurrence. The Kaplan-Meier survival curves indicated that decreased expression of eIF3d could serve as a prognosis marker for poor outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma patients. Conclusion eIF3d played an important role in tumour recurrence, thus it is a promising predictive marker for prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.
