Classification and comprehensive control of complications of expander exposure

Objective To study the effective techniques for prevention of complications of expander exposure. Methods The behavior of 98 expander exposure from 1572 expansive places was analyzed retrospectively. Comprehensive techniques for expander exposure control were tested in 287 expansive places. Results 98 expander exposure in retrospective cases were divided into five types and the exposure rate was 6.23%. With comprehensive control techniques, the expander exposure rate was decreased to 1.74 %. Conclusion The comprehensive techniques are reliable in expander exposure complications prevention.
