Method and system for simulating the processing of workpieces with tools

A method simulates a machining of a workpiece by a tool. The process populates a swept volume, which represents a movement of the tool relative to the workpiece, with a set of beams, and determines a distant from the workpiece volume through the swept volume on the basis of intersections of at least some rays of the workpiece. A model of the workpiece is modified on the basis of the remote volume.
