New and Improved Technologies for the OMEGA EP High-Energy Petawatt Laser

OMEGA EP (extended performance) is a petawatt-class laser under construction at the University of Rochester. This paper reviews both the OMEGA EP performance objectives and the enabling technologies required to meet these goals.
