A Computational Analysis of Dynamic Behavior of H_2-HD Separation by Cryogenic Distillation

A computational method was constitued to obtain total stage number of distillation column based on experimental data.The total stage number was between 20~30 in the first test with natural hydrogen gas and was 24 in the second test with 0.001 abundance hydrogen gas.The deuterium concentration in condenser will increase with time and bring a low deuterium-extraction efficiency if the total stage number was small.An analysis was made for the dynamic behavior of the two separation tests,theoretical prediction of deuterium concentration in reboiler agreed very well with experimental value.The vibrations of liquid hydrogen level and temperature may influence the precision of measured data.
