Current progress in research on H19 gene
2011
The H19 gene encodes a 2.3 kb non-coding RNA which is maternally expressed, paternally imprinted and conserved on mammalian evolution. This gene is one of the first imprinted genes to be identified.Recently it was shown that a small non-coding RNA-miR-675 is produced from the exon of the H19 gene that plays an important role in embryonic development, tumorigenesis, etc. In this article, regulation of imprinting, function and relation with microRNA of the H19 gene are reviewed.
