ENQUETE SERO-EPIDEMIOLOGIQUE SUR LA BRUCELLOSE CHEZ LES BOVINS LAITIERS EN ZONE PERI-URBAINE DU DISTRICT DE BAMAKO

This study was conducted at the Central Veterinary Laboratory of Bamako (LCV) and aimed to assess the serological prevalence of brucellosis in dairy cattle farms located in the peri-urban area of ​​the Bamako District. It ran from April to September 2015. In this study, 317 sera were collected from cattle in 25 dairy cattle farms, 70 of which were positive (22.08%). It also showed that the prevalence rate in brucellosis varies according to the breeding site and sex: in Sanankoroba 50%, in Banco 40%, in Katibougou 34.38%, in Dialakoroba 33, 33%, in Sala 32 %, in Kassela 18%, in Safo 16.13%, in Manankoroni 12.70%, in Diatoula 9.52%, in Zougoume 6.90% and no cases in other sites and by sex in females 26, 27% while 9.88% was obtained in males. This prevalence also varied by race: the highest prevalence was recorded among the mestizos (24.39%) followed by zebus (18.18%) and the lowest among the race n'dama (no cases). It has also varied according to the clinical signs of the animals. Thus the highest infection rate 67.47% was observed in animals that had aborted, against 5.60% in animals with no clinical signs. The study also made practical recommendations for better control of brucellosis in cattle farms. Keywords: Brucellosis-Cattle-Seroepidemiology- Peri-urban areas of Bamako District.
