Research of Glass Ionomer Cement Characteristic

Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of polishing to the shear bond strength of glass ionomer cement(GIC). Methods 60 extracted premolars were evenly divided into two groups. With the different polishing programs, three kind of GIC were bonded, The shear bond strengths of three materials were tested by material testing machine.Results The results of the analysis of variance that compared the shear bond strength with the various experimental groups indicated that there was significant difference between the polishing group and unpolished group (P0.01).Conclusion Polishing can improve the shear bond strengths of GIC to the dentin. Compared with the shear bond strengths of the two kinds of GIC, Chemfil SUPERIOR is better than Ketac Molar.
