An adaptive communication framework for medical wireless body area networks

Medical wireless body area networks (WBANs) will play a crucial role in future smart healthcare systems. Appropriate adaptive communication techniques are needed to support the development and deployment of medical WBANs. In this paper, an adaptive scenario-based communication framework is introduced to support medical WBANs. By dividing the whole working environment into independent scenarios, the adaptive communication problem is divided to be two subproblems, i.e., how to communicate adaptively in different scenarios and how to roam from one scenario to another seamlessly. The structure of the proposed framework and how to implement the framework are discussed.
