The diagnostic significance of plasma miR-10b for esophageal cancer

2013
Objective To evaluate the diagnostic significance of plasma miR-10b for esophageal cancer(EC).Methods Twenty-nine patients with EC and 16 healthy controls were recruited.Total RNA was extracted from plasma samples for measurement of miR-10b using RT-qPCR.The correlation analysis was performed. Results The miR 10b was significantly down-regulated in the patients with EC than that in healthy controls, and also significantly down regulated in EC patients at early stage. The sensitivity and specificity of miR-10b for EC were 81.3% and 100.0%,respectively.Plasma miR-10b showed no significant correlation with cancer stages, pathological types, differentiation or nodal metastasis. Conclusion Plasma miR-10b may play a key role in the early detection of EC.
