Ka-Band Single Layer Wideband Microstrip Patch Antenna

2019
In this paper, a Ka-band wideband single layer microstrip patch antenna with a 180° phase shifter is proposed. Compared with the conventional patch antenna, this patch antenna has a few advantageous features such as simple structure, wider bandwidth and low cost. The wideband property can be obtained by combining the wideband patch antenna and the wideband 180° phase shifter. Differential feeding is adopted in order to increase the symmetry of the radiation patterns. The geometry structure, working principle, design method and simulated results are described in detail. The designed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 18.2%, and its peak gain can reach about 7.43 dB.
