Global study on conflict management during a community-based tourism initiative

2014
While conflict management during community-based tourism is mentioned in the academic literature, there has been little detail offered regarding how to address such conflict. To explore this gap in knowledge, a two-stage research design was developed to explore the instances of conflict, the responses to these instances, and impacts of those responses on community-based tourism initiatives. The first stage of this research design was to distribute qualitative email surveys to attain data on conflict management. The thematic categories and sub-categories derived from the first stage of the research design are presented within this paper, along with the geographic and stakeholder group representation of the respondents.
