Fatigue design of powder metallurgy (PM) automotive components

2014
Among several competing mass–production methods powder metallurgy (PM) plays an important role not only as a material– and energy–saving alternative but also as a technique delivering materials with good fatigue properties. The powder metallurgical component design procedure is illustrated here by two examples: a conventionally sintered turbocharger bushing and a powder–forged parking gear. Both parts were previously designed using conventional wrought steels.
