Emission of zinc at the generation and transport of electric power. Emissie van zink bij produktie en transport van elektriciteit
1992
As part of an overview of all the zinc sources in the Netherlands, an overview is made of all the zinc flows in electric power plants. This concerns coal, bottom ash, coal fines fly ash, fly ash, limestone, lime, gypsum, process water, effluents and sludge from water purification installation near a flue gas desulfurization installation. Also the production of residual materials and the emission of air pollutants by the electric power generating sector in the Netherlands have been mapped, as well as the accompanying zinc flows. Estimations were made of the emission of particulates and the production of residual materials up to the year 2010, based on the E-plan coal and nuclear energy scenario's, including calculations for the zinc flows. A new aspect, considered in these scenario's, is the input of coal gasification. Finally data are presented on zinc emissions from high voltage transmission lines.
