In Situ Dynamic-Light-Scattering Study of a Cellular Interface Arising During Directional Growth

1991
We report the existence, in the succinonitrile-acetone system, of an intense scattering of light with specific time-correlation characteristics, arising during directional growth from the solid region adjacent to a cellular interface. The scattering is assigned to a diffusion of solute in the solid, driven by the grooves created behind the moving cellular interface.
