The invention relates to an exhaust gas purification system with a particle filter and an absorber for nitrogen oxides, and a method for implementation with oxides removal operation nitrogen, a sulfur removal operation of the absorber for nitrogen oxides, and a removing operation of soot of the particulate filter. According to the invention, the absorber for nitrogen oxides is located upstream of the particulate filter. For sulfur removal operation is chosen a longer duration than that for the removal of nitrogen oxides operation. At least a part of the operation for removing sulfur and soot removal operation are carried out as operations of combined regeneration, where the two refresh operations are performed directly one after the another or a refresh operation is intermittently over several intervals during another regeneration operation. Use, for example for purifying automobile exhaust gas having a diesel engine.
