A bstract: The dynamics o f the soil water content in the root zone o f G lossudalfs and Endoaquolls (A lbeluvisol and G leysols) w as investigated in 2 0 04-2006 in the catena system s o f the Poznan Lakeland. According to the results, the G lossudalfs and Endoaquolls are characterized by different soil water dynamics. In soils located in the summit (G lossudalfs), values o f the soil matrix potential below -1 0 0 kPa were observed to the depth o f about 90 cm, and below -1 5 0 0 kPa to depth o f 30-40 cm. In the Endoaqu­ olls the depth values were 30-40 cm and 15-30 cm, respectively. The average moisture depth equal to the field capacity is about 150 cm in G lossudalfs and 60-70 cm in Endoaquolls. The soil water content is temporarily correlated from 17 w eeks at the depth o f 10 cm to 63 w eeks at the depth o f 150 cm in the G lossudalfs located in the summit, and from 16 w eeks at the depth o f 10 cm to 53 w eeks at the depth o f 150 cm in the Endoaquolls o f the foot slope.
