Ethyl 3‐(4‐chloro­phen­yl)‐2‐cyano­acrylate

The title compound, C12H10ClNO2, was synthesized by the reaction of ethyl cyano­caetate with 4-chloro­benzaldehyde in ethanol under microwave irradiation. In the crystal structure, weak inter­molecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol­ecules into centrosymmetric dimers, which are held together by van der Waals forces.
