Development of Multi-Robot Presentation System for Lecture in Classroom

2020
This paper describes a multi-robot presentation system for lecture in a classroom. The robot presentation for education has advantages such as improvement of attracting attention, reducing boredom, and increasing motivation. We are developing an autonomous presentation system using a robot to make a lecture at the university. On the other hand, we focus on the following problems for a presentation robot. One is that students get bored with flat explanation and a formulaic motion. Second is that a robot cannot interact with all persons at a time. For the solution, especially, we propose a multi-robot presentation system for making lecture with interaction. We use two humanoid robots named ISAO and MASARU. To interact with all participants, we develop a client application that answered the quiz and query. For the experiment, we presented a demonstration in a lecture on robotics by 59 students. To verify the effectiveness of the multi-robot presentation, we compare ISAO-MASARU lecture and only MASARU's lecture. We discuss a positive feeling and motivation of participants through a questionnaire.
