Additive manufacturing of high relative density Cu-0.8Cr alloy by low power 1064nm Yb-fiber laser powder bed fusion: Role of Nano-TiC modification

2021
Abstract High relative density up to 99.7% Cu-0.8Cr alloy samples were fabricated using Cu-0.8Cr alloy powder modified with 0.2wt% nano-TiC by 320w 1064nm Yb-fiber laser powder bed fusion. Nano-TiC modification improved laser absorptivity of the powder from 30.5%up to 59.9%, resulting in sound microstructure and higher properties of fabricated samples. Hardness, tensile strength and elongation of the high relative density samples was up to 98.1 HBW, 225.9 MPa, and 22.1%, respectively.
