Women with prolonged infertility (PI) were nearly twice as likely to report having difficulty putting their children to sleep at night and displayed less confidence in childrearing. The relationship between fertility status and maternal anxiety was significant at the bivariate level, but not in regression analysis. On all significant findings, the effect sizes were very small. CONCLUSION: Women who experienced prolonged infertility did not appear to have a more difficult adjustment to early parenthood than women who conceived in less than one year or one to two years.
