Possible Shape Isomers at High-Spin States of N ¼ 83 Isotones

Decays of high-spin isomers (HSIs) with I π =49/2 + in 143 Nd and 147 Gd are studied in terms of shape isomerism. Observed large hindrance factors of the electric dipole (E1) transition deexciting HSI in 143 Nd and the electric quadrupole (E2) transition deexciting HSI in 147 Gd are analyzed by using configurations and deformations obtained by deformed independent particle model calculations. It is pointed out that the strongly hindered decays of HSIs indicate a clear manifestation of the shape differences between HSIs and feeding states by their decays.
