Y-SNPs genetic variation in the Caucasian population living in southern Portugal
2015
Abstract Y-SNPs have importance for ancestry studies, allowing the study of migration phenomena and also human evolution history reconstruction. In this research was used a multiplex with the following markers: 92R7, M70, M22, Tat, P25, SRY1532, M173, M213, M9. The method used for typing this Y-SNPs was the minisequencing method using the SNaPshot Multiplex kit™ Kit, analyzed in an automatic sequencer ABIPrism ® 3130 Genetic Analyzer (Applied Biosystems). In the Portuguese sample, we detected 3 haplogrupos: R1* with about 67%, representing the majority of the sample, followed by F (×K) with 22% and the haplogroups BCD or E with 11%. The application of Y-SNPs allowed the characterization of the Caucasian population residing in southern Portugal. These SNPs revealed her importance in the ancestry studies as well as the study of the migration phenomena of the Humanity. For more conclusive results, further studies must be performed in this population to different multiplexes so that these new results can then be used by forensic laboratories.
