Summary: Phytolith analysis in fluvial deposits of ambiences of the middle reach Parana river (Entre Rios, Argentina). This paper defines the phytoliths composition from different environments of the insular region southernmost Middle Parana River, establishing fluvio-sedimentary and floristic characteristics, of the plant-substrate associations. The Middle Parana, moves through a floodplain. The phytolith analysis have proved a valuable contribution to understanding the type of environment, both for the study of bottom deposits as well as such as island environments. Six stations were established: “albardon joven”, “albardon intermedio”, “albardon viejo”, “media loma”, “pajonal” and “bajo”. The processing was performed using the technique of Laboriau (1980) for plant samples and followed the protocol processing Zucol et al. (2010) for clastic samples. Phytolith analysis proved a useful tool, because we could make significant differences in the various units of study, clearly differing from existing components and their contribution to the substrate, as well as those elements that have characterized these environments in the past recent.
