2018
With the development of digital media technology and the Internet, electronic devices are increasingly been applied to assist people in reading academic documents, and shallow reading becomes a widespread phenomenon. Meanwhile, auxiliary reading system has been widely used in reading academic documents to improve reading efficiency and effects. This paper compare shallow reading behavior and deep reading behavior through analyzing user’s eye movement data in reading academic document. Also, we studied the pattern of shallow reading behavior in auxiliary documents reading. The results show that both shallow reading and deep reading exist in the academic document reading behavior. There are significant difference between shallow reading and deep reading in saccade amplitude, gaze time and other indicators. The saccade amplitude and gaze time of shallow reading are shorter than deep reading.
