Production of a dispersion-hardened nickel-chromium alloy by mechanical alloying

1977
1. A study of the preparation of powders of a dispension-hardened nickel-chromium alloy by the mechanical alloying method, involving high-energy mixing in a planetary centrifugal mill, has established that the process brings about homogenization of structure, the rate and extent of which are linked with processing parameters — the degree of filling of the mill volume with balls and the ratio between the weights of the balls and of the powder mixture. 2. Compared with parts from a simple mixture of powder components, semifinished products from a mechanically alloyed powder have a more homogeneous structure and undergo fuller recrystallization, as a result of which they exhibit better mechanical characteristics in high-temperature tests.
