The authors has studied the characteristics of social functioning in 33 patients with paranoid schizophrenia in remission (age 46 years, 72,7% female), all of them are on dynamic dispensary observation. Method and instruments: clinical-psychopathological and psychometric: the PANSS and the PSP. The authors report prevalence of asthenic, paranoid and apathetic types of remission among the patients. Slightly more than 1/3 of them seem to preserve the capacity to work. The authors describe typical significant decrease of social functioning in employed and unemployed patients. They have also revealed the clinical and socio-demographic factors that influence the level of social functioning. The authors stress the importance of labor activities in the patients' quality of life and propose the criteria for evaluation of rehabilitation work with them.
