Comparative Study of Photocatalytic Performance on Different TiO2/EG Composite Nanocatalyst

2015
In the present study, two kinds of TiO2/EG composite nanocatalysts were fabricated through different procedures. Subsequently, the resulting samples were characterized through scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-visible light diffuse reflection spectrum (UV-vis DRS) and exfoliated volume (EV) measurements. Results showed that both TiO2/EG nanocatalysts displayed an obviously enhanced visible light absorbance. Besides, the S-TiO2/EG nanocatalyst exhibited higher adsorptive and photocatalytic (PC) performance than those of M-TiO2/EG sample, which was mainly attributed to the more intense visible light absorbance and well-developed porosity. Furthermore, the effects of massive ratio between TiO2 and EG and calcination temperature on the PC performances were investigated in detail. Under the optimized conditions, 89.6% of phenol solution could be degraded within 120 min visible light irradiation by S-TiO2/EG nanocatalyst.
