Belonging to the technical field of organic compound preparation, the invention relates to a new preparation process of the organic compound 1, 4-cyclohexanedione monoethylene acetal. The process is characterized in that under the action of an acid catalyst, 1, 4-cyclohexanedione and ethylene glycol undergo a condensation reaction in a proper amount of a solvent so as to obtain 1, 4-cyclohexanedione monoethylene acetal with high yield and high purity. The invention uses a small amount of the solvent and the acid catalyst, and employs a unique technology of condensation mixture separation to fundamentally solve the difficult problem that a great quantity of solvents accumulate and condensation mixtures are difficult to separate in other processes, thus solving the bottleneck problem for realizing industrialization. The invention has the advantages of mild reaction conditions, clear process, simple operation, and low production cost, thus being very beneficial to industrialized production.
