Constitutional Controversies in the Aftermath of the Anti-Extradition Movement of 2019

2020
The aftermath of the “anti-extradition movement” of 2019 saw three great constitutional controversies fuelled by conflicting interpretations of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Collectively they may be regarded as constituting the greatest shock experienced by the constitutional framework of “One Country, Two Systems” since this political and legal experiment began in 1997. It is the purpose of this article to document and analyse these three constitutional controversies.
